The year was 1997, and I decided to launch out into the deep, recording my first solo project called, Introducing Shedrick Mitchell. I am now celebrating the 25th anniversary of this recording, with most of the original tracks from that project, and a few new added bonus tracks. I was blessed to be mentored by some of the greatest pianist/ musicians to ever live. Mulgrew Miller, John Hicks, and Kenny Kirkland poured into me and encouraged me to put together my first recording, and I’m forever grateful!! I dedicate this project to them, because although they are not here physically, I still hold onto their memories and their classic music! I want to give praise to the Most High God, because without him, truly none of this is possible. To my parents, John and Sandra Mitchell, I love you more than words could ever say! To my siblings John, Johnell, and their partners in life, Tiffany and Galen, thank you for all that you do! To my children Klarke, Shedrick Kahari, and my ever present son, Kylan, believe it or not, you all inspire me everyday to keep pushing. God is giving us grace to figure this life thing out, but just know, Dad loves you unconditionally! To the Mitchell and Hatchett family, my love for you all runs deep! To all my friends, fans, and supporters, thank you! Lastly, I had a stellar cast of musicians who played on this original project, who are now a part of The Who’s Who in music.
